Accelerating Asian market growth in medium- and heavy-duty trucks during the last decade creates large opportunities to focus future innovation toward environmental benefits. The CERC-TRUCK Consortium supports the goals of the 2014 U.S.-China Joint Announcement on Climate Change to achieve an economy-wide target of reducing emissions by roughly 26–28 percent below 2005 levels.
To do that, the Consortium focuses on key technology challenges that are barriers to development and commercialization of clean vehicle technologies for medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks. The CERC-TRUCK Consortium brings together a diverse group of partner institutions in the United States and China to collaborate on a portfolio of focused research to advance efficiency and environmental targets for medium- and heavy-duty commercial trucks. Industry representatives from both countries participate in the Consortium to ensure that the research findings can be translated into effective market solutions.
The CERC-TRUCK Consortium also serves as a clearinghouse, distributing publications and other forms of information, providing external communications and outreach to promote transportation technologies in both the United States and China, and acting as a knowledge repository.
